After self-studying Japanese in 2019, Haruki began writing situational short stories that mirror everyday moments you’ll face in Japan—ordering at a konbini, chatting on the train, getting lost in Kyoto. Twenty books and over a thousand sales later, she now crafts 100 % of the stories you read inside ReadNihongo.
Creative process
Each piece starts with a real-life situation, then Haruki grades the vocabulary to JLPT N5–N4 and sprinkles in kana hints. Furigana fades once you master a kanji, letting you stay immersed even when you stumble onto new words.
