You have just arrived at Tokyo International Airport. After collecting your luggage, you step into the arrival gate hall. Standing there is Yumi さん, your host from the language exchange program. She holds a small sign with your name. Your heart races—this is your first time in Japan, and you’re about to meet her face-to-face.

In the following dialogue, you will learn how to greet someone politely, introduce yourself, and respond to basic questions in Japanese.
